The Filippo Valli Quartet presents a repertoire that combines the bandleader’s original compositions with modern interpretations of jazz standards. The band stands out for its harmonious balance between composition and improvisation, as well as for a vivid and profound musical dialogue.

Valli draws inspiration from some of the most innovative voices in contemporary jazz, such as Joel Ross, Immanuel Wilkins, Braxton Cook, Marquis Hill, Joe Sanders and Joshua Redman. Artists, whose complex sonic landscapes provide fertile ground for his creativity. At the same time, it is the soul of Black music that deeply permeates his artistic vision, with blues, soul and funk becoming languages through which Valli shapes a personal and emotionally charged sound world.

The interplay of the four band members’ musical identities creates a rich palette of nuances and expressive depth. The quartet leads the listener on a musical journey that flows between moments of high energy and intimate reflection, with the musicians’ collaborative spirit turning each concert into a coherent, immersive and profoundly contemporary experience.

Scopamare is a music collective founded in Ticino in 2022. Its sound blends jazz, afrobeat and pop, inspired by contemporary ensembles such as Snarky Puppy, Nubiyan Twist, Kokoroko, Nu Genea and BadBadNotGood, as well as historical icons like Weather Report, Jamiroquai, Pino Daniele and Lucio Dalla. The result is a fresh identity that combines groove, energy and musical depth. At the heart of Scopamare lies the live session: compositions and recordings are performed together in live session, capturing spontaneity and authenticity while limiting post-production. This philosophy also drives the group to embrace collaborations and expand the ensemble with new instruments and voices, enriching the collective sound.

A new cultural initiative dedicated to jazz music.
The Lugano Jazz Orchestra promotes jazz culture by presenting concerts devoted to some of the most significant works written for big band, both contemporary and historically important. The orchestra is proud to rely on the refined musicianship of numerous local artists and aims to highlight the artistic landscape of Italian-speaking Switzerland. It offers a convivial meeting place for enthusiasts, encouraging exchanges with international music scenes and supporting young emerging artists.

The New Orchestra Radiosa is a contemporary musical project created with the aim of paying tribute to the historic Orchestra Radiosa of the Swiss Italian Radio and Television, which was active for many decades starting in the 1940s. Through a modern reinterpretation of the original repertoire, the New Orchestra Radiosa highlights a musical heritage that profoundly shaped the cultural life of Italian-speaking Switzerland, blending light music, swing and jazz influences.

Formed by musicians active on the contemporary music scene, the orchestra seeks to keep the spirit of the original Radiosa alive by reinterpreting its language with a modern sensibility and a strong focus on artistic quality. The project stands at the intersection of historical memory and the present, offering concerts and productions that create a dialogue between tradition and contemporaneity, and emphasizing the importance of radio and large ensembles in the dissemination of the region’s musical culture.

Omura is an exciting Swiss music project that emerged in the summer of 2022 from the meeting of four eclectic musicians from the Italian-speaking region of Switzerland, giving rise to a distinctive and compelling sonic synergy.

At the renowned DB Studio in Ticino, Omura recorded a three-track demo that captures the essence, freshness, and originality of their musical vision.

In 2023, Omura quickly established itself on the local music scene through a series of engaging live performances at major music events, including collaborations with the talented trumpeter Nolan Quinn as a special guest. Their music is a captivating fusion of influences ranging from R&B and lo-fi to soul and jazz, resulting in a unique and immersive sound that draws listeners in from the very first notes. With original compositions and a strong jazz foundation, Omura offers an engaging and constantly evolving musical journey.
