Filippo Valli is a Swiss saxophonist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist from Lugano. He currently leads his own quartet, with whom he recorded his debut album Part of Life, and performs with several projects, including the newly founded Lugano Jazz Orchestra (LVJO), the New Orchestra Radiosa, and the Ticino-based ensembles Scopamare and Omura. In 2023, his quartet was selected for the prestigious ZKB Jazz Prize and later toured as part of the Suisse Diagonales Jazz Festival 2026, representing Ticino. Alongside his performing career, he is completing a second Master’s degree in music pedagogy at the ZHdK in Zurich and has been teaching saxophone and flute privately to students of all ages for over a year.

He began his musical journey in his hometown under the guidance of Gabriele Comeglio, developing a strong foundation that led him to continue his studies in Milan. There, he earned his Bachelor’s degree at the Civica Scuola di Musica Claudio Abbado, gaining extensive orchestral experience with the Civica Jazz Band and the ensemble led by Paolo Tomelleri. During his time in Milan, he also performed and collaborated with his teachers and prominent figures of the Italian jazz scene, including Enrico Intra, Paolo Tomelleri, Claudio Fasoli, and Tony Arco, further enriching his artistic development.

He later pursued a Master’s degree at the Lucerne School of Music (HSLU), where he refined his musical identity and expanded his versatility as a flutist and clarinetist. During this period, he studied under the guidance of Nat Su, Nils Wogram, and Jean-Paul Brodbeck, and collaborated with internationally renowned artists such as Peter Erskine, John Patitucci, Louis Cole, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and Marius Neset.
